How to Fix a Rear Main Seal Leak in One Easy Step

#driveyourlife

Rear Main Seal InstallationYour rear main seal is one of the most important seals on your vehicle’s engine. The rear main seal is the rear seal for the crankshaft in your engine. It’s a very important seal since it is so low on the engine a significant amount of oil can quickly leak from it, allowing your engine oil levels to get dangerously low before you have time to add more oil. That’s why, if yours is faulty, a rear main seal leak fix should be at the top of your to-do list. Luckily, fixing the seal is extremely easy with BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer. Continue reading below, and stop that leak right in its tracks!

Try Rear Main Sealer Now

A Rear Main Seal Fix Doesn’t Have to Be Hard

Once you have a bottle of BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer in your hands, fixing a rear main seal leak has never been easier. Watch the video below for a step-by-step guide to fixing any leak!

Rear Main Seal Leak Symptoms

A rear main seal that requires fixing will leave oil stains under a parked vehicle. Your vehicle may also demonstrate a dramatic loss of oil in a short period of time.

Can You Drive With a Rear Main Seal Leak?

Solving a rear main seal leak can be a frustrating and complicated experience.  Many times the mechanics’ quotes for getting a rear main seal fixed are so high that it seems a better option to drive the vehicle and just add oil regularly to keep your car running. Here’s why that’s a bad Idea.

While you are driving, the leaking oil will be distributed all over the bottom of your vehicle. This includes your suspension components, exhaust pipe, and any hoses or wires under your vehicle.  Spreading oil over your hot exhaust pipe is, most importantly, a fire hazard! It can also but also lead to unpleasant smells and plumes of smoke coming from your engine. Just letting a rear main seal leak go is a poor option, even if you don’t intend on keeping your car for very long.

Replacing a Rear Main Seal

Rear main seal leaks are often killers of engines due to their complicated replacement procedure.  The actual seal that is broken is often a relatively low-cost part, often under $50 dollars but sometimes as low as $15.  However, the process to get to the rear main seal to replace it often requires removal of the entire engine and transmission from the vehicle, a job that can only be done by very skilled mechanics and even then can take 6-10 hours!  Due to the duration of the job and the skills required to do the work, it often can be more economical to simply install a new engine in your vehicle than to attempt to repair the rear main seal.  If your rear main seal is leaking, it is likely that other components of your engine are worn down and will soon start to leak as well or start to slowly fail.

Rear Main Seal Leak Fix at Home

Luckily, if your rear main seal is leaking, you have a few options outside of replacing your engine or paying for costly maintenance. Stop leak products are relatively new to the automotive market and have made great strides with recent formulas.

Originally, stop leaks were mostly particulate based and used things like sawdust to clog leaks. Ultimately, these caused more harm than good. New technology in leak stop additives has led to a different way of sealing leaks in the systems in your vehicle.  Rather than simply clogging up leaks, BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is designed to revive and rejuvenate the rear main seal in your motor so it can do the job it was originally intended to do. BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is a versatile rear main seal fix for seals that are dried, cracked, or shrunken due to age or use. Our solution is a completely liquid additive that won’t clog or harm any other components or seals in your engine and will stop that annoying (and costly) rear main seal leak in a sinch.

The Best Rear Main Seal Leak Additive!

Our leak stop solution is the best on the market. If you don’t believe us, read BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer product reviews on the Advance Auto Parts website before you make your purchase. Stop your leak before you do more damage to your vehicle! Avoiding costly repairs is every car owner’s first priority. BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is the perfect product to do just that.

    • BlueDevil Pro on July 2, 2013 at 1:42 pm

Yes, but be sure to only use 1 oz. of BlueDevil per quart of capacity. You will NOT need the entire bottle.

will it stop coolant leaking into my oil on my 03 suzuki sv1000

          Marcus-

Yes, the BlueDevil Head Gasket Sealer will work to stop the coolant from leaking into your engine oil. For best results, you will want to change your oil before and after the BlueDevil process.

Thank you for asking about your Subaru WRX. To confirm, are you losing oil or transmission fluid? Please contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 so that we can get a little better understanding of the leak and be able to make any appropriate recommendations.

We have a Freightliner Cascadia with a Detroit DD15 engine rebuilt approx 18 months ago. There is an oil leak coming out from the top of the rear main structure, or possible back of engine head. Before we go and have this tore apart do you think the Blue Devil might help reseal this problem?

        • BlueDevil Pro on October 11, 2016 at 9:35 am

          Patty-

Thank you for asking about your Freightliner Cascadia. Based on your description, we recommend using the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer. As long as you are not losing oil too quickly, you would be a great candidate for the product. You should expect to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving.

          Thank you!

I have a 1964 Chrysler Newport, 361 8cyl big block with a Torqueflight 3sp pushbutton auto. Rear main seal is leaking, how much, of what kind, of your product shoupd I use please?

          • BlueDevil Pro on March 31, 2022 at 8:31 am

            Viktor-

Thank you for asking about your Chrysler Newport. The BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer would be the best product to use for the leak you’ve indicated. The product only has an effect on rubber seals, however, so you may want to verify the seal material. One bottle would treat up to 8 quarts of oil.

            Thank you!

      • Renee on June 17, 2020 at 12:54 pm

I have a slight drip right under my oil pan plug (2004 chevy express 3500 6.0l V8 vortec engine, 22 ft motorhome. Mechanic steam cleaned and put dye in and says to drive about 200 miles and bring it back and they could better tell where the leak was coming from. They charged me $85 just to do that. After seeing the info on the blue devil leak seal makes me wonder if the mechanic put that into my vehicle to see if it would stop it, without telling me. Maybe I should drive it 200 miles and put something under it to see if it is leaking and if it still is, I should pour some Blue Devil into it. I doubt the mechanic would tell me the truth if I asked if they put leak seal into it. If they did and then I put more in not knowing that, would it harm the engine? They said if they find it’s a rear main seal leak, they’d have to replace the oil pan and the rear main seal for $1800.

        • BlueDevil Pro on June 18, 2020 at 9:26 am

          Renee-

Thank you for asking about your Chevy Express 3500. It would be tough to say, but most oil leak detection dyes don’t specify driving the vehicle for 200 miles, although more time driving would be warranted for a slow leak to be detected. To confirm, you are losing oil from the oil pan gasket and rear main seal? If that is the case, we recommend using the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is more concentrated and is the universal application that will work for various leaks such as oil pan leaks, rear main leaks, valve cover gasket leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is less concentrated and specifically formulated exclusively for leaking rear main seals. If you are not 100% sure where the vehicle is leaking or there seem to be multiple leaks then we recommend using BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. It is not necessary to add both products simultaneously.

          Thank you!

            Danny-

Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound as though the product would work for the leak you’ve described. It works by revitalizing/reconditioning rubber seals. It would not fill in a hole or plug in a gap.

            Thank you!

I have a 1995 Lincoln Town car that is leaking transmission fluid. I spoke with a mechanic and he said it is leaking from the rear main seal. After reading the comments here, they only talked about oil leaks. Does transmission fluid leak from the rear main seal?

          • BlueDevil Pro on November 17, 2022 at 8:46 am

            Dee-

The rear main seal is located where the transmission hooks up to the back of the engine. If it’s been diagnosed as having a rear main seal leak, it would indicate the vehicle is leaking oil. If the vehicle is losing transmission fluid, the mechanic may have been referring to the rear transmission seal. Hope this helps.

            Thank you!

I have a 2009 BMW X5 that was not having any problem that I know with oil leaks until my last oil change. I put dye in it and the tech said tht either my oil pan gasket or my rear engine gasket was leaking. It is a very small leak, but it does show up after a day or so sitting after being run on the highway. What should I use?

Also, many people are saying that this causes all my gaskets to swell slightly and wear out faster. Am I sacrificing everything in the long to solve one small leak now?

      • BlueDevil Pro on September 1, 2016 at 10:27 am

        Bob-

Thank you for asking about your BMW X5. Based on your description, we recommend using the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The Oil Stop Leak is the universal application and will work for oil pan leaks, rear main leaks, valve seal leaks, transmission leaks, power steering leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is specifically formulated for the rear main seal. If you are not sure where the vehicle is leaking or there seem to be multiple leaks I would recommend using the Oil Stop Leak.
The product will revitalize and recondition the rubbers in the system back to their original state, however, it would not over-swell or over-expand them. Feel free to contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 with any other questions.

        Thank you!

            Rusty-

Thank you for asking about your Honda. Unfortunately, it sounds as though you are losing oil too quickly for the BlueDevil to be of help. Based on your description, you would lose the product just as quickly as you added it, and wouldn’t really be able to keep it in the system long enough to get the benefit of using it. Replacing the rear main seal may be your best option.

            Thank you!

      Chris-

The leak you have described would be considered major. You may need a hard part repair to stop a leak of that size.

    • BlueDevil Pro on December 1, 2014 at 3:05 pm

If it is leaking completely down then it may be a leak that is a little bit too extreme for what BlueDevil is intended to fix. The problem may be that you would lose the product to quickly for it to take effect.

We wish you the best of luck in getting the leak stopped.

Hello! My 94 Buick LaSabre was overfilled with oil and possibly messed up the seals! I have blue smoke coming from my tailpipe every now and then, but the water isn’t mixing with the oil which would indicate blown head gaskets! Could it be just the seals? Should I try Blue Devil to see if the smoking stops?

    • BlueDevil Pro on December 16, 2014 at 2:08 pm

      Brandy-

The blue smoke would indicate that you are burning engine oil. You may use the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak but you will first want to ensure that the engine oil level is at the proper mark.

Hi. I just bought my daughter a used 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara for her “first car.” I bought it for a song from a dealer with 160,000 miles on the engine. We drove it for about 400 miles and we started/shut-off the engine approximately 10-20 times during that 400 mile period without any issues. I decided we better get the oil changed because I didn’t know when it was last done. When finished, we immediately noticed a STRONG burning oil smell. We returned to the oil change place, and they said the filter was replaced correctly and noticed no low oil, but we noticed drips on the garage floor. We’ve since put 320 more miles on it, and its about a 1/2 quart low. There is no smoke coming from the engine or exhaust. It starts, runs, and drives GREAT, but the burning oil smell is SO strong, so we know it’s leaking from SOMEWHERE. I’d really hate to have to get rid of this car or put a huge amount of money into it. Could this product work for us? Thank you for your time. -Paula

    • BlueDevil Pro on January 8, 2015 at 12:34 pm

      Paula-

Yes, we recommend adding the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. This should stop the oil leakage and in turn eliminate the burning oil along with the smell.

    • BlueDevil Pro on January 19, 2015 at 9:57 am

      Dave-

The Oil Stop Leak is the universal application and will work for oil pan leaks, rear main leaks, valve seal leaks, transmission leaks, power steering leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is specifically formulated for the rear main seal. If you are not sure where the vehicle is leaking or there seem to be multiple leaks I would recommend using the Oil Stop Leak. However, in your case it sounds like you are fairly certain that the rear main is leaking; if that is the case then we recommend adding the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer.

For the oil leak coming from your rear main seal we recommend adding 1 bottle of the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer; you should notice results after about 100 miles of driving.

I have leak in my 2007 Mini Cooper S model. I am not sure where the leak is coming from yet. My main concern is putting an oil additive in this engine since it had a turbocharger. As I understand it, the turbo uses the engine oil for lubrication too. Is Blue Devil safe in a supercharged engine? Is there any risk to the turbo? Owners manual advises not to use additives. I want to be safe.

Would this product work on a H22 VTEC motor? I only ask because does it seal up other oil passages? I am only leaking oil from the rear main seal alone but I don’t want my VTEC to stop working suddenly because it seal up other oil passages which the VTEC motor has a lot of and is crucial for VTEC to work.

    • BlueDevil Pro on July 29, 2015 at 9:49 am

      Meng-

Yes, the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer will work in a H22 VTEC engine. The product will not thicken or harden in anyway and is 100% safe for your engine.

      • Meng on July 29, 2015 at 2:19 pm

I don’t know if this is true but I heard that your product expands seals (I assume rubber seals and gaskets). Will it expand any other seals etc? I am afraid to use this product because I don’t want other seals to expand and cause more problems then what I already have. I’m leaking about half a quart a month but do not have the funds to replace to rear main seal at the moment. Can I get a guarantee that this will not harm or cause any other problems besides fixing the leak in my rear main seal?

        • BlueDevil Pro on August 4, 2015 at 11:05 am

          Meng-

The expansion is very minor when the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is effecting the seal. It is only reacting with the seal that currently has the leak; the BlueDevil will absorb into that seal/gasket as the fluid leaks from the system. We do guarantee that it will not harm the engine in any way.

Once the BlueDevil is added you can expect to notice results after about 100 miles of driving.

hello. I have a 2010 toyota camry with 153,000 miles on it. synthetic oil changed every 10,000 miles. the shop I use for repairs, basically alignments, and oil changes said they noticed a small leak in the rear main seal at the 1st time I used them last year, then the 2nd oil change said nothing, now today, 9/11/15 they said they noticed it again. there are no oil stains in the driveway and the oil level has not moved in 10,000 miles. I check the oil once a month and have never had to add any. my question is, should I add the BD rear main seal? and the car is a 4 cyclinder–how much would I need to add if so? • BlueDevil Pro on September 15, 2015 at 3:08 pm

      Martin-

You are fine to add the product to the oil already in your system. Typically, you would start to see results after around 100-200 miles of driving, so if you are due to have the oil change in the near future, you would want to change the oil first. Otherwise, you are fine to add it to you existing oil.

      Thank you!

Yes, the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer will work in your 1974 Dodge. Once the product is added you can expect to start noticing results after about 100 miles of driving.

First I know nothing about cars. But I just had my manifold replaced and was told I have a rear seal leak and that I should add oil every month. Would your real seal leak product help? And how much should I use and how often. I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra. Thanks.

    • BlueDevil Pro on October 6, 2015 at 9:38 am

      Susan-

You would be using one ounce of the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer per quart of oil in the system. As long as you are not losing oil too quickly, not more than seeping or dripping, then you would be a good candidate for the product. Once the product seals, it would create a permanent seal, so you would only need to add the product once.

      Thank you!

Based on your description, we would recommend using the BlueDevil for the leak in your BMW. Typically you should start to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving. As long as you are not losing coolant/water too quickly, you should be able to see some good results from the product.

I’ve added the BD rear main sealer to my 1995 Ford explorer and I’m approaching 300k miles. It’s been about 250 miles since the addition and there’s still a leak. Can I add the product again as it may have leaked to quickly to take effect?

    • BlueDevil Pro on November 30, 2015 at 10:10 am

      Brandon-

Based on your description, unfortunately, we would not recommend adding a second treatment to your Ford Explorer. The product is intended for leaks that are seeping or dripping out. If you are losing oil too quickly, you would lose the product just as quickly and would never get the benefit of having it in the system. I have a 2002 Tahoe that is dripping oil at either the rear of the pan gasket or the rear main seal. Would you suggest I use the rear main seal treatment or the oil stop leak treatment? Also, is this a permanent fix or should I look at selling the vehicle soon afterwards?

    Thanks,

    • BlueDevil Pro on December 9, 2015 at 3:45 pm

The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is the universal application and will work for oil pan leaks, rear main leaks, valve seal leaks, transmission leaks, power steering leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is specifically formulated for the rear main seal. Because you are not 100% sure where the vehicle is leaking we recommend using BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The BlueDevil is a permanent repair.

Do you only need to use it once or every time you change your oil? I have a rear main seal leak in a 1965 Cadillac 429 V8 (First leak she’s ever had!) – Will this work with her older style seals?

    • BlueDevil Pro on August 18, 2016 at 1:58 pm

Thank you for asking about your Cadillac 429. Typically, you should only need to add the product once. Once it seals, it would be a permanent seal, so it is not the kind of thing you would have to add with every oil change. The product is only intended for rubber seals. Some older vehicles use cork or paper seals, which the product would not have any affect on. Feel free to contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 with any other questions.

i have a 05 cadillac escalade ext, i recently had the oil pressure line leading to the radiator changed. Now when i start the truck up, the warning bell is going off saying low oil pressure and the oil hand is in the red, but i’m not low in oil. Once the truck warms up the bell stops but the oil hand is right above the 20 line. does this mean my motor is going out?

    • BD Auto Pro on January 19, 2017 at 5:36 pm

      Henry,

Thanks for your question about your 2005 Escalade. We’ve found that when a problem occurs right after a maintenance item it is often the result of that maintenance item either directly or indirectly. In this case, the oil line you’re talking about could be for an oil cooler which would be located near the oil filter and oil pressure sender so it’s possible the electrical connection to the oil pressure sending unit is simply loose creating the alarm and reading you are seeing. The other possibility is that the new line you installed is clogged or damaged internally not allowing oil to flow properly creating oil pressure issues and as your vehicle warms up the oil can pass more easily.

Since the proper oil pressure is essential to the longevity of your engine, we would recommend have the mechanic who installed the line check their work as soon as possible.

      Thanks again for your question!

I have two vehicles with leaks-

First is a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE w/ the 3.5 ltr v6 engine and 201,000 miles on the clock. People at the shop have told me it has a RMS leak and lower oil pan gasket leak, but I have also noticed what seems to be some seepage around the valve cover gaskets. Leaks about a quart every 7-10 days.

Second is a 2005 Ford Mustang Premium v6 w/ the 4.0 ltr v6 engine and 160,000 miles on the clock. Dealership says RMS and oil pan gasket both are leaking. Haven’t seen a spot until recently (approx 3-4 weeks after the visit to the shop).

Would your products help my vehicles? If so, which product? On an additional note, I’ve noticed that rear main seals can be made of different materials – some being rubber, some being PTFE, some Viton – would your products work on all of these materials?

    Thank you!

    • BlueDevil Pro on February 17, 2021 at 1:34 pm

      Steven-

The best product to use for the oil leaks on your vehicles is the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The product is designed to work exclusively on rubber seals/gaskets.

Thank you for asking about your Jeep. Based on your description, you would be fine to add the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer to your existing oil. It would not be any more advantageous to add the product to a fresh oil change than it would be adding to your existing oil. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving. If you are not 100% sure where the vehicle is leaking or there seem to be multiple leaks then we recommend using BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. It is not necessary to add both products simultaneously.

      Thank you!

          Alex-

Unless you are due for an oil change within the next 300 miles or so, you would be fine to add the product to your existing oil.

I have a a 1954 Chevy 235 engine with an old rope seal that’s beginning to leak a little. I’m guessing the Rear Main Sealer won’t work on rope seals?

    • BlueDevil Pro on December 22, 2021 at 2:06 pm

      Lee-

The BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is only intended for rubber seals. Unfortunately, it would not have any affect on a rope seal.

Ok to use on a 1974 ford bronco with a rebuilt 302? Doesn’t get a lot of driving, so drips a little oil. I assume it’s a rear main seal…

    • BlueDevil Pro on March 28, 2022 at 8:44 am

Yes, the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is safe and compatible to use on your Ford Bronco. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving.

    • BlueDevil Pro on May 5, 2022 at 8:25 am

      Jaron-

The BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is safe and compatible to use in your Nissan Murano. As long as you aren’t losing oil too quickly, you would be a good candidate for the product. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving.

I have a zz502 newer style big block motor. I just had a new transmission and stall converter put in. The shop did not replace the rear main seal. Its now leaking a couple of half dollar puddles under the car from the rear main seal. Will this product work with this motor. Do I need 2 bottles?

    • BlueDevil Pro on June 16, 2022 at 8:19 am

      Shane-

Yes, the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is compatible to use with your motor. One bottle will treat up to 8 quarts of oil. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving.

  79. Dave Rothermel on August 29, 2022 at 1:52 pm

Will BlueDevil work on a newly overhauled chevy small block? I read it rejuvenates old seals. Would it stop new seals from leaking? This would be the second rear main seal since being overhauled approximately 3 years ago.

    • BlueDevil Pro on August 30, 2022 at 9:00 am

      Dave-

The BlueDevil works by revitalizing and reconditioning shrunken/brittle rubber seals. Unfortunately, it would not have any affect on a new rubber. You may want to make sure the seal isn’t overtightened.

      Thank you!

I have a ’79 C3 Corvette which, in Chevy mechanics words, “oil leaking from every seal on the engine – would need complete engine re-seal”. Can your product help?

    • BlueDevil Pro on September 7, 2022 at 8:31 am

      Richard-

Depending on how quickly you are losing oil, you may be a good candidate for the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The product is intended for leaks that are seeping or lightly dripping, so not for a rapid loss of oil. It would work on any of the rubber seals/gaskets throughout the oil system. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving.

      Thank you!

The engine will be off when you add the product, but it wouldn’t matter whether it was cold or had just been run. Feel free to contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 with any other questions.

My 1997 Ford Escort with 103,000 miles needs a rear main seal according to my shop’s inspection report. I do get a tiny drip on the driveway occasionally where it’s located but not often. When I asked about a sealer like Blue Devil, their answer was the seal is too far gone. How would they know that? Maybe I should simply try Blue devil and see and if it doesn’t stop leaking, then go ahead with the job. Agree?

    • BlueDevil Pro on November 7, 2022 at 8:44 am

Thank you for asking about your Ford Escort. Based on your description, it sounds like you would be good candidate for the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer. I have an 09 Acura TL with a 3.7L V6 engine that is diagnosed with a leak in valve cover gasket and rear main valve seal. I changed the oil a few days ago. Which product do you recommend me using? Also how much of it do I need to use? Does the viscosity of the engine oil matter?

    • BlueDevil Pro on January 17, 2023 at 8:30 am

      Mo-

Thank you for asking about your Acura TL. BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is more concentrated and is the universal application that will work for various leaks such as oil pan leaks, rear main leaks, valve cover gasket leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is less concentrated and is formulated exclusively for leaking rear main seals. If you are not 100% sure where the vehicle is leaking or there seem to be multiple leaks then we recommend using BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. It is not necessary to add both products simultaneously. The product is compatible with synthetic, semi-synthetic, as well as regular mobile oil.

The product doesn’t harden or thicken, so it won’t clog or restrict the fuel lines, however, it would be best to have the fuel tank removed and dump the contaminated fuel out.

Thank you for asking about your Dodge Ram. The best product to use for your leaking front crank shaft seal is the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The product does not harden or thicken in anyway, so it is 100% safe to use. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving.

    • BlueDevil Pro on October 23, 2023 at 9:17 am

      Greg-

Thank you for asking about your Ford F-350. Yes, the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is safe and compatible to use on diesel engines, however, the product is intended for leaks that are seeping or lightly dripping. If you are losing oil at a rapid rate, you would lose the product just as quickly, and wouldn’t really be able to keep it in the oil long enough in order to get the benefit of using it.

I have a Ford 4500 3 cylinder diesel backhoe, the backhoe sat for 4 years. I just fixed it up adding a new fuel pump, injectors, etc. When the engine warms up, it starts to spit out oil. My guess is that the rear seal is dried up and when the engine warms up it creates a leak.

    • BlueDevil Pro on October 31, 2023 at 9:48 am

      Matt-

Thank you for asking about your Ford 4500. The BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is intended for leaks that are seeping or lightly dripping. If oil is “spitting out,” unfortunately, the leak you have may be a little too large for the product to be successful. Replacing the rear main seal may be your best option.

      Thank you!
