I have a slight drip right under my oil pan plug (2004 chevy express 3500 6.0l V8 vortec engine, 22 ft motorhome. Mechanic steam cleaned and put dye in and says to drive about 200 miles and bring it back and they could better tell where the leak was coming from. They charged me $85 just to do that. After seeing the info on the blue devil leak seal makes me wonder if the mechanic put that into my vehicle to see if it would stop it, without telling me. Maybe I should drive it 200 miles and put something under it to see if it is leaking and if it still is, I should pour some Blue Devil into it. I doubt the mechanic would tell me the truth if I asked if they put leak seal into it. If they did and then I put more in not knowing that, would it harm the engine? They said if they find it’s a rear main seal leak, they’d have to replace the oil pan and the rear main seal for $1800.

I have a 1995 Lincoln Town car that is leaking transmission fluid. I spoke with a mechanic and he said it is leaking from the rear main seal. After reading the comments here, they only talked about oil leaks. Does transmission fluid leak from the rear main seal?

I have a 2009 BMW X5 that was not having any problem that I know with oil leaks until my last oil change. Hi. I just bought my daughter a used 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara for her “first car.” I bought it for a song from a dealer with 160,000 miles on the engine. We drove it for about 400 miles and we started/shut-off the engine approximately 10-20 times during that 400 mile period without any issues. I decided we better get the oil changed because I didn’t know when it was last done. When finished, we immediately noticed a STRONG burning oil smell. We returned to the oil change place, and they said the filter was replaced correctly and noticed no low oil, but we noticed drips on the garage floor. We’ve since put 320 more miles on it, and its about a 1/2 quart low. There is no smoke coming from the engine or exhaust. It starts, runs, and drives GREAT, but the burning oil smell is SO strong, so we know it’s leaking from SOMEWHERE. I’d really hate to have to get rid of this car or put a huge amount of money into it. Could this product work for us? Thank you for your time. -Paula

So I’m looking at a suburban to buy and the person says the rear main seals needs to be fixed but says it doesn’t need to be done right away. What do you think if the car is $2,000 and the rear main seal needs to be replaced is it worth it?

I need HELP…..I have 2002 Tahoe ..with 110,500 miles,
10/2014 see smal oil leaking under oil pan to the foor , dealer said oil leak from AXLE SEAL cost $358.60

We recommend adding 1 bottle of the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak rather than the Rear Main Sealer. The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak will treat the rear main seal as well as the other leaks you are experiencing. Once the Oil Stop Leak is added you should notice results after about 100 miles.

I have leak in my 2007 Mini Cooper S model. I am not sure where the leak is coming from yet. My main concern is putting an oil additive in this engine since it had a turbocharger. As I understand it, the turbo uses the engine oil for lubrication too. Is Blue Devil safe in a supercharged engine? Is there any risk to the turbo? Owners manual advises not to use additives. I want to be safe.

Would this product work on a H22 VTEC motor? I only ask because does it seal up other oil passages? I am only leaking oil from the rear main seal alone but I don’t want my VTEC to stop working suddenly because it seal up other oil passages which the VTEC motor has a lot of and is crucial for VTEC to work.

I don’t know if this is true but I heard that your product expands seals (I assume rubber seals and gaskets). Will it expand any other seals etc? I am afraid to use this product because I don’t want other seals to expand and cause more problems then what I already have. I’m leaking about half a quart a month but do not have the funds to replace to rear main seal at the moment. Can I get a guarantee that this will not harm or cause any other problems besides fixing the leak in my rear main seal?

The expansion is very minor when the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer is effecting the seal. It is only reacting with the seal that currently has the leak; the BlueDevil will absorb into that seal/gasket as the fluid leaks from the system. We do guarantee that it will not harm the engine in any way.

hello. I have a 2010 toyota camry with 153,000 miles on it. synthetic oil changed every 10,000 miles. the shop I use for repairs, basically alignments, and oil changes said they noticed a small leak in the rear main seal at the 1st time I used them last year, then the 2nd oil change said nothing, now today, 9/11/15 they said they noticed it again. there are no oil stains in the driveway and the oil level has not moved in 10,000 miles. I check the oil once a month and have never had to add any. my question is, should I add the BD rear main seal? and the car is a 4 cyclinder–how much would I need to add if so? As long as you are not losing oil too quickly, not more than seeping or dripping, then you would be a good candidate for the product. Once the product seals, it would create a permanent seal, so you would only need to add the product once.
