What is your recommendation for stopping a dripping transmission oil leak in a 6 gallon capacity oil sump, on a 1980 model case tractor.

    TX; Jess

    • BlueDevil Pro on May 20, 2013 at 2:21 pm

The best product for the leak you have described is the BlueDevil Transmission Sealer. You will need to add 24 ounces (1 bottle and a half) based on your fluid capacity. Keep in mind that it may take a day or two before you see full results.

Feel free to contact us direct at 888-863-0426 with any further questions.

      • Jess on May 20, 2013 at 7:42 pm

The fluid in these transmissions are hydraulic oil and doubles to supply oil to the 3 point lift. Will this make a difference in the sealer to be used?

        • BlueDevil Pro on May 20, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Either product would be compatible for your transmission. Please be sure to use 1 ounce of product per quart of capacity.

Will this temporarily stop a front axle seal leak on 2002 jeep wrangler Tj until I can get the seals changed? And which product is best and how much do I add? It has a dana 30 front axle

          • BlueDevil Pro on March 13, 2023 at 9:44 am

            Bill-

The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak would be the best product to use for the front axle seal leak on your Jeep Wrangler. You will use one oz. of the product per quart of fluid capacity. You should expect to start seeing results after 100-200 miles of driving.

            Thank you!

        • BlueDevil Pro on June 30, 2016 at 8:31 am

          Haytham-

Thank you for asking about your Ford Edge. The BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer, found here on our website: http://store.gobdp.com/rear-main-sealer-00234/ , would seal a leaking differential. You can order the product directly from our website at the link above and we do ship to UAE.

Hey there blue devil ??? Does the product 🤔 harden?? How does it seal a leak in my rear dif???? I just put product in there with no oil just one 8oz container…… we’ll see what happens…..I haven’t started truck yet…gonna wait a day or two….see if it stops

          • BlueDevil Pro on June 7, 2021 at 8:58 am

            Grant-

The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak does not harden or thicken in anyway. It works by revitalizing & reconditioning rubber seals/gaskets, to get them back to there original shape and there original flexibility. The product would not be taking the place of your differential fluid. You should use one oz. of the product per quart of fluid capacity. You should have your regular differential fluid in the system, leaving just enough room for the recommended amount of the product.

            Thank you!

2004 saturn, should I put oil in my car. before or after if it leaked some out? Do I need to drive my car immediately after putting blue devil in?

          • BlueDevil Pro on July 31, 2019 at 8:47 am

            Gloria-

Yes, you would want to top your Saturn off with oil as needed. You do not have to drive immediately after adding BlueDevil. Typically, it will be around 100-200 miles of driving before you start to notice any improvement.

      • John Brodnax on April 18, 2020 at 8:41 pm

I mistakenly put head gasket sealer in my crank case what do I need to do thank you

        • BlueDevil Pro on April 20, 2020 at 9:09 am

          John-

As long as you haven’t run the vehicle after adding it mistakenly into the crank case, you should be able to change the oil and filters, get fresh oil back in the system, and be good to go. If you are unable to do so, you would want to have the vehicle towed to your mechanic to have the oil changed. Do not run the motor until the oil has been changed.

          Thank you!

You will use one oz. of the product per quart of fluid in the system. Typically, you should start to notice results after 100-200 miles of driving. It does not have to be a continuous drive or be driven immediately upon adding the product.

  2. Bill on June 4, 2013 at 4:18 am

I have an antique 1954 DeSoto Firedome V8 that has an oil drip. I’m not sure where its coming from, most likely the oil pan or rear main seal. If I add a bottle of Red Devil Oil Stop Leak could there be any possible harm to the motor? Will the product coagulate in the oil filter or elsewhere?

    • BlueDevil Pro on June 4, 2013 at 2:12 pm

There is no chance at the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak harming your engine in any way. The product does not harden or thicken so you will not have any clogging or restriction of flow. Due to the fact that this is an older vehicle keep in mind that BlueDevil will not work on old cork seals. Not all older vehicles use cork but if this one does it will not allow the product to work properly.

      • Judy on April 25, 2017 at 2:34 pm

What is considered an old vehicle? I put Blup DevIL stop oil leak in my 1996 Ford Ranger. Dies it have cork? Also how often should I put the product in?

        • BlueDevil Pro on April 25, 2017 at 3:00 pm

          Judy-

Thank you for asking about your Ford Ranger. Any vehicle manufactured in the 90’s, would have rubber seals/gaskets, so the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak would definitely be appropriate to use. Once the product seals, it would be a permanent seal, so you should only need to use the product once.

          Thank you!

      • BlueDevil Pro on April 26, 2022 at 8:27 am

        Grady-

Thank you for asking about your Buick Enclave. Is the oil getting onto the spark plugs and burning off through the exhaust pipe? If so, we recommend using the BlueDevil Stop Smoke & Engine Repair. The product would work great for valve guide seals or worn o-rings.
The BlueDevil Transmission Sealer is intended for leaks that are seeping or lightly dripping, from worn/shrunken rubber seals/gaskets. If the leak is coming from a worn seal, we would recommend the Transmission Sealer in this instance. You would use one oz. of the product per quart of fluid capacity.

        Thank you!

Yes it works for valve cover gaskets,i used it on my ’97 Ford van, didn’t want to deal with the headache of halfway taking apart a van engine to replace two gaskets and a few grommets.i used the engine oil leak stop, drove it from Florida to NYC in a straight shot,it worked! Just a couple drops seeped out afterwards,Will be using a second bottle to seal the deal, also will be using this to take care of a very small but concerning differential axle leak…first time ever trying this product and i love it!

        • BlueDevil Pro on January 11, 2017 at 9:35 am

          Mario-

Once the product seals, it creates a permanent seal, so in no way is it considered temporary. White smoke would indicate water/antifreeze burning, where as a blue smoke would indicate oil burning. Feel free to contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 with any other questions.

I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna that has a pretty good rear main seal leak. It leaves a couple half dollar size oil spots on the ground every time I stop. People say that oil stop leak damages other seals in the engine, is there any truth to thos idea? If I use BlueDevil will I need to put more in the car every time I change the oil? Why does BlueDevil work for some cases and not others?

    • BlueDevil Pro on April 9, 2015 at 10:03 am

      Dan-

We recommend adding 1 bottle of the BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer (http://store.gobdp.com/rear-main-sealer-00234/). The BlueDevil will not damage any seals or components in any way.

The product only needs to be added one time; it will create a permanent seal. In instances that it does not work it is usually due to the extent of the leak.

Will rear main seal ne better or the other stop leak blue devil makes. What’s the difference in these two stop leaks?

To help you decide which product you may want to use we will give you a brief explanation on what each is intended for.

The Oil Stop Leak is the universal application and will work for oil pan gasket leaks, rear main seal leaks, valve cover leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is specifically formulated for the rear main seal. If you are not sure where the vehicle is leaking or it seems that there are multiple leaks I would recommend using the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak.

Hi I have a 03 Chevy s10 zr2 I have to top off oil in between oil changes I don’t know if it’s burning oil or slowly leaking somewhere can I still use your blue devil oil stop leak and when I add it to my oil does it go in the regular oil fill compartment and do I have to run my engine for two hours immediately for two hours once applied or not

    • BlueDevil Pro on May 18, 2015 at 9:48 am

      Leo-

Yes, you may add the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak right through your oil cap (the same place oil is added). The engine does not need to be run for 2 hours immediately; it can be run on multiple short trips over a few days or a week. Keep in mind that if you do not drive a whole lot, it could take a few days before you see results. In general, you should see some results after about 100 miles of driving.

i have a 2000 chrysler sebring convertible w v 6 engine I first tried blue devil rear main sealer and seemed to work without any leaks for two months but now front crank seal is leaking leaving spots all over drive way and blowing back on underside of car. Do you think blue devil oil stop leak would work. Also autozone told me i wouldnt have to lower oil level b4 adding rear main sealant .I called cust help line they say lower oil level before using your bottle says nothing about this

    • BlueDevil Pro on July 15, 2015 at 7:00 pm

      Hank,

Thanks for your question about your Chrysler Sebring. We do recommend BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak (available here: http://store.gobdp.com/oil-stop-leak-49499/) to stop the leak coming from your front crank seals. Make sure you purchase it from our online store or one of our authorized retailers to get our guarantee!

Also, you do not need to lower your oil level before adding BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak if it is already in the acceptable range. Your car holds 4.5 quarts of oil and BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is only an 8oz bottle so it will not drastically increase your engine oil level.

Yes, we do recommend using the proper amount of the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak; you only need to add 1 ounce of BlueDevil per every 1 quart of capacity. The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is compatible with differential fluid. The vehicle does not need to be driven 2 hours all in one shot; it can be driven on short trips over multiple days. Unfortunately, we do not manufacture any products that will work when oil is entering the cooling system. The BlueDevil Head Gasket Sealer is specifically designed to stop coolant loss or to prevent combustion from entering the cooling system. It will work for water/coolant leaking into the oil but not the other way around.

Thank you for your question. You should start to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving. It does not have to be a continuous drive. You are fine to go 5, 10 mile intervals here and there. It’s just gonna be 100-200 miles before you start to notice results. We recommend using 1 bottle of BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak (http://store.gobdp.com/oil-stop-leak-49499/). The product carries a success rate of over 90%; as long as you are not losing a great amount of oil then you should have no problem stopping the leak with BlueDevil. Once the product is added you can expect to start seeing results after about 100 miles of driving.

BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak will not have any effect on the drivability of the vehicle; it does not harden or thicken to stop the leak but rather recondition & rejuvenate the rubber seals & gaskets within the fluid oil system.

          Thank you!

Thank you for asking about your Volkswagen Passat. Unfortunately, it sounds like you may be losing oil a little too quickly for the product. The Oil Stop Leak is intended for leaks that are seeping or dripping out of the system. Thank you for asking about your Ford Explorer. Based on your description, we would recommend the BlueDevil OIl Stop Leak. As long as you are not losing oil too quickly, you would be a good candidate for the product. You should expect to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving.

Thank you for asking about your Ford F-350. Are you noticing a loss of oil? White smoke would indicate water/coolant burning and blue smoke would indicate oil burning. Hi, i have a Seat Ibiza 2010 and it is leaking quite abit of Hydraulic from the seal and been told i will need a new steering rack which is going to cost hundreds, only had the car a couple weeks, would this product work on it?

    thankyou!

    • BlueDevil Pro on March 1, 2016 at 9:11 am

      Charlotte-

Thank you for asking about your Seat Ibiza. Based on your description, you may be losing fluid a little too quickly for the product. The Oil Stop Leak is intended for leaks that are seeping or lightly dripping from the system. Typically, you would start to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving, so if you are losing all of your fluid before you get to that point, you wouldn’t get the benefit of having the product in the system.

      Thank you!

    • BlueDevil Pro on May 24, 2016 at 11:14 am

      Crystal-

We recommending adding the proper amount of BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak (http://store.gobdp.com/oil-stop-leak-49499/). You should add 1 ounce of BlueDevil per every 1 quart of capacity; you will not need much for the transfer case due to the small capacity. Once added you can expect to start seeing results after about 100 miles of driving. We have had a lot of success stopping fluid loss coming from transfer cases in the past.

      Thank you!

It would be fine for you to add the BlueDevil Transmission Sealer to your transfer case. You will be using one oz. of the product per quart of fluid in the system. You should expect to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving.

    Hi,

I have a Toyota Camry 1999 model and I noticed engine oil leakage a week after I got my oil changed. So I used one bottle of Blue Devil Oil Stop Leak and the leakage reduced to few drops. I am wondering if I need to add another bottle. Will it harm my engine if I add another bottle of Blue Devil Oil Stop Leak. I also heard that I have to run my engine 2 hours continuously. Last time I didn’t do that when I added the Blue Devil Oil Stop leak.

    Thanks!

    • BlueDevil Pro on October 21, 2016 at 9:05 am

      Akash-

Thank you for asking about your Toyota Camry. It is definitely a good sign that you noticed some kind of improvement. It may just be that the leak you were experiencing was a little larger than what the product is intended for, so the product may have formed a partial seal. Based on your description, we recommend a second application of the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. Please contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 so that we may assist you in obtaining a replacement bottle.
Typically, you would start to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving. It does not have to be a continuous drive, it would just be around the 100 mile mark before you would start notice improvement.

I have an older (but less than 1500 hours) Kubota L35 diesel tractor with loader & B900 Backhoe. There have been numerous minor hydraulic leaks in the past but it just blew one of the lines on a stabilizer. I have the lines to replace all 4 on the stabilizers. It sounds like Blue Devil Oil Sealer would be a good addition after the repairs. Hydraulic system capacity is about 40 quarts – so 40 oz. of BDOS?

    • BlueDevil Pro on October 25, 2016 at 10:42 am

      Russel-

The more appropriate product to use in your Backhoe would be BlueDevil Hydraulic Stop Leak (http://store.gobdp.com/hydraulic-stop-leak-00238-00239/). Based on the capacity of your hydraulic system you should apply 40 ounces of BlueDevil. The product works well for reconditioning the rubber seals and gaskets throughout the hydraulic system.

Thank you for asking about your Mazda CX 7. The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak would seal a leaking valve cover gasket, however, not a leaking oil cooler. I have a 97 Dodge Stratus with a rear main seal leak. Yesterday I bought a bottle of Blue Devil rear main sealer. The instructions say to add it to the engine oil, start the engine and drive the vehicle until the leaks are sealed (up to 2 days drive time). I noticed in a prior comment it was suggested for the person to drive 100 – 200 miles. My question is: If I put the sealer in and only drive it 5 or 10 miles for the first day, and then drive it up to 200 miles over the course of a week or two, will it still be effective enough to work on repairing the seal?

Please give us a call at 888-863-0426 so that we can discuss approximately how many miles you have driven since BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer was added. It is possible that you have not gotten the full results out of the application depending on how much you have driven.

Hi, I have a 2005 ford F150 and the rear differential seems to be leaking, I think it is coming from where the prop shaft enters the diff and all the bottom side of the diff seems to be dark as if the leak is fairly substantial, however dripping when parking is very minimal. Would your product work for me? If so would it be BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak or BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer?

    Thanks.

    • BlueDevil Pro on June 27, 2017 at 3:11 pm

      Daniel-

Thank you for asking about your Ford F-150. Based on your description, we recommend adding the BlueDevil Oil Stop leak. The Oil Stop Leak is a universal application, where as the Rear Main Sealer is specifically formulated for the rear main seal. You should expect to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving.

      Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. During this 100-200 miles should I be topping up the differential fluid as it leaks to make sure the level is good? And should I top up with the oil stop leak or just do that once?

        Thanks

        • BlueDevil Pro on June 27, 2017 at 4:04 pm

          Daniel-

You may top it off with differential fluid as needed. You would not need to add more of the product before the 100-200 miles of driving. Feel free to contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 with any other questions.

          Thank you!

I have a 2012 Ford Edge and the dealership told me today that I have a small leak from the high side pressure hose for the power steering pump. The level is currently at capacity and there is no evidence on the floor in the garage of a leak. I want to put in your power steering stop leak, but I don’t know how much I should remove from the reservoir before pouring in your product. Should I put in the entire bottle, or just a partial?

    • BlueDevil Pro on September 13, 2017 at 3:28 pm

      Tim-

Thank you for asking about your Ford Edge. In terms of adding the BlueDevil Power Steering Stop Leak, you would be adding 1/3 of the bottle into your power steering reservoir. You should expect to see results after about 100-200 miles of driving.

      Thank you!

I have a 2009 Mazda Cx9 and never had a problem with it. But, we drove about 1000 miles 2 weeks ago to get to another state and now my car is leaking oil and there smoke coming from under the hood and smoke is going inside thru my a.c. vents and it smells terrible. I went to go do a high mileage oil change and he just told me that there was a lot oil in the passengers side towards the back of the engine. What can I do? I bought a Blue Devil stop a leak today and I drove it for longer than a hour and half and it is still leaking.

    • BlueDevil Pro on February 1, 2018 at 10:04 am

      Christina-

Thank you for asking about your Mazda Cx9. How quickly are you losing oil? Do you happen to know where the leak(s) are coming from? Typically with the product, you would start to notice improvement after around 100-200 miles of driving. Please contact our technical support line at 888-863-0426 so that we can get a better understanding of the extent of the leak and be able to make any appropriate recommendations.

02 ranger 3.0L 110k miles. I recently switched to synthetic and started noticing its burning allot oil. No oil leaks are visible as I meticulously take care of my vehicle. Since I have no leaks, would you still recommend a stop leak or what product would you recommend?

    • BlueDevil Pro on February 23, 2018 at 8:42 am

      Manuel-

Thank you for asking about your Ford Ranger. Based on your description, if you are not sure where the oil loss is occurring from, we’d recommend using the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak (https://store.gobdp.com/oil-stop-leak-49499/). The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak works by revitalizing and reconditioning the rubber seals/gaskets in the fluid oil system. Even if you are not experiencing a leak, the product could be utilized as a preventative maintenance to keep the rubbers from becoming brittle or deteriorating.

Thank you for asking about your Mercedes Benz W210. It may be feasible in this case to use the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak (https://store.gobdp.com/oil-stop-leak-49499/) for both leaks you have described. BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is a universal application and is the more concentrated product, which would treat any of the rubber seals/gaskets in system. I had a horrible rear main seal leak on my 1997 Tahoe. It was dumping oil like it was going though a siv. Added a bottle if your product, and 2 days later it has stopped leaking. Just saved me 800 bucks. Can I add a bottle to every oil change?

    • BlueDevil Pro on August 7, 2018 at 8:59 am

      Steven-

We are glad to hear the product was able to seal the leak on your Chevy Tahoe! Once the product seals, it would be a permanent seal, so you should be good to go at this point. The product does not harden or thicken in anyway, so there would be no adverse effects adding it with every oil change.

    • BlueDevil Pro on December 27, 2018 at 9:10 am

Thank you for asking about your Chevy. Based on your description, we recommend adding the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The product does not harden or thicken in anyway, so it would not cause any adverse affects on the engine. I have a 2009 Audi A5 3.2L. Mechanic says that I have a few oil leaks (oil filter housing seal, oil cooler gasket, valve cover gaskets, lower oil pan, etc.) I’ve kept an eye out for the leaks since last oil change and did not receive any oil min warnings. The leaks seem to be seeping/dripping. 1. Will the BD oil stop leak be safe for my car? 2. Can the oil stop leak work for my scenario? 3. If so, how much is recommended for 6.87 qts? Thanks.

Yes, the BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is safe and compatible to use on your Audi A5. The product is intended for leaks that are seeping or lightly dripping, so based on your description, you would be a good candidate for the product. One bottle would be sufficient to treat your vehicle.

whats the difference between the ream main sealer and regular stop leak? is either safe to use in a motorcycle with wet clutches?
i have an old motorcycle 1978 4 stroke twin cylinder wet clutch system. it is weeping slightly on the head gasket between the cylinders. Was wondering if you had a product that you could recommend that would seal the leak without trashing my clutches. Thanks

    • BlueDevil Pro on February 20, 2019 at 11:22 am

      Dave-

BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is more concentrated and is the universal application that will work for various leaks such as oil pan leaks, rear main leaks, valve cover gasket leaks, etc. Whereas the Rear Main Sealer is specifically formulated for only a leaking rear main seal. If you are not 100% sure where the vehicle is leaking or there seem to be multiple leaks then we recommend using BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak.
If it is your head gasket that is leaking oil, unfortunately, we do not manufacture a product for that type of leak. The two products mentioned above are only intended to treat rubber seals/gaskets and our BlueDevil Head Gasket Sealer is only intended for water/coolant leaks. A hard part repair may be your best option.

    • BlueDevil Pro on December 2, 2019 at 9:53 am

The BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak is safe and compatible to use with Pennzoil high mileage oil. You would need a little more than one bottle for a 7.5L capacity. It is not one of those things where more of the product would be better. You really only want to use the recommended amount.
